My personal experiences have become a source of empathy for other people to which I have a quick and easy access. I have had the privilege to get my education in different countries. This adventure has risen my awareness of subjectivity as I learned that my world is only mine. Each person inhabits a unique univese that I thrive to understand and respect. I make a special effort to include my clients values in the theraputic process.
Motherhood has been another learning process that has helped me understand the precious relationships between parents daughters and sons. It has also enabled me to empathize with the mixed feelings related to this complex reationships.
Since opening my first practice in 2000, I have had the opportunity to gain a wide ranged expertice on various types of psychological subjects:
Expatriation, immigration, separation, divorce
Fear, fobia, trauma, obsessions
Acceptance and understanding of the world of the toxic person, increase awarenes of the adverse consequences on mental health of remaining in the relationship, learn how to set bounderies and gain distance
Get in touch with emotions, feel them and undertand them, reduce dissonance between the rational and the emotional
“The highly sensitive person” learn to live with this potential, value it and use it, learn strategies to process the depth of the sensitive stimuli. Learn self-care in order to prevent burnout
What do we have emotions for and how to use them, emotional understanding for adolescents and children
The main theory I apply in my every day work is the humanistic (person-centered approach) but I do not hesitate to utilize methods derived from other theoretical backgrouds, if I believe that they can help to trigger the terapeutic process. The goal of most of my interventions is that the client accesses their emotional world. On this basis, we proceed to working on understanding the emotions cognitively and later on we find ways to direct them. This is the essence of our work together. When the client achieves this three stages of the terapeutic process (get in touch, understand and direct feelings) they will also experience relief and a sense of well-being.
The client- therapist relationship is the starting point, that enables the client to search for buried or concealed emotions in a safe way. My aim is to care for, protect and nurture this relationship basing my attitude on the person-centered approach. According to this theory empathy, unconditional positive regard and authenticity are the grounds on which the therapeutic process will grow.
The first three sessions serve to get to know each other. I will be able to get a first impression of the clients world’s needs and demands. The client on the other hand will have the chance to experience three sessions where he/she/they can build trust in me. If the client wishes to start the process we will begin to work together.
